Clean water for everyone!
Cholera, Typhus and Scabies have hit Karamoja in northeastern Uganda.
The lack of water is precarious.
During the year, Help at Hand and Daiya kids uganda opened up six water wells for the families in Iriiri, which has provided over 12,000 children with clean water.
The old vessels they have are dirtier on the inside than on the outside, so we have, during the summer and autumn of 2020, distributed new water cans to over 1,000 families and the work continues.
🕷️ FIGHTING SCABIES 🕷️
Life in Karamoja is tough and unlike anything else in Uganda.
Now it is the dry season, the fields are yellow and the rivers dry.
The wells that we opened earlier this year are the only water sources in the area.
Together with the closed schools, the lack of water generally results in much poorer hygiene.
It is estimated that 30,000 children here are affected by scabies and together with you we have started the fight against scabies.
The world, the government and healthcare are caught up in the Corona hysteria and all resources are going in that direction, even though those who have been affected by Malaria, Cholera and Scabies are a thousand times more.
In recent weeks, together with Help at Hand and Daiya Kids, we have treated more than 2,500 families against scabies, which corresponds to approximately 15,000 children.
The joy of the mothers and children is indescribable when they receive the help they desperately need.
Work continues….
